In the role of Prophet, senior leaders have an additional organisational role to play in the broader sense of conveying the company’s purpose and direction to staff at multiple levels. As managers, Prophets provide aspirational examples for their staff. At senior leadership levels, it’s vital to use this role to engage employees by doing the following:

This involves using every opportunity to talk with different communities within the company about the vision, using highly aspirational language. It’s important that senior leaders talk constantly about the purpose of the organisation and inspire people in everything they do. The core of each message about the purpose should be consistent, but the Prophet may change emphasis depending on the types of people within the organisation being engaged. Just like the manager as Culture Builder, the leader never forgets the purpose, and keeps it at his core.
