ABSTRACT
As a result of the Napoleonic Wars, there was a short space of time in the spring of 1814 for Norwegian political initiative. Denmark had lost Norway, and Sweden had not yet taken control (see also Chapter 3.4). In these months Norwegians grasped the opportunity and made themselves a constitution based on the examples of America and France.
