ABSTRACT

The challenge to churches of all traditions is how to adjust to the changes which are taking place, and how to express eternal truth in and through this emerging culture. To some extent the separate approaches depend on how much people actually live in the world of the postmodern rather than bumping into it and trying to avoid it. It is a world in which people now reject truth claims which are expressed in the form of dogma or absolutes. It is a world in which dignity is granted to emotions and intuition, and where people are accustomed to communicating through words linked to images and symbols rather than through plain words or simple statements. Post-evangelical people are people who belong to, or are influenced by, this world, and whose Christian faith is increasingly being expressed in and through this frame of reference.
