ABSTRACT

The Second Vatican Council has left us a building site. It resembles the building site of St. Peter’s in the sixteenth century: Alongside the ancient Roman basilica there towered into the heavens the four monumental supporting columns that were later to carry the most beautiful dome in the world, the one that today arches over the tomb of Peter the Apostle.
