ABSTRACT
My research examines the Eva von Buttlar group, the Society of Mother Eve, and its origins from a church-historical perspective while tracing its place in the history of ideas.1 This group, which sprang into being around 1700, was the first separatist and communitarian group in the context of Pietism.2
