ABSTRACT
One problem associated with re-signalling is that of identifying the workload that a given combination of signalling scheme and timetable imposes on a signaller. This can affect issues such as the design of the signal panel and decisions on staffing levels. While it is possible to examine workload using simulators, this may be less practicable in some situations (e.g. with Entry/Exit (NX) panels) than others (e.g. VDU based systems), as simulators are costly to build. It is obviously advantageous to be able to predict workload in advance.
