ABSTRACT
Sleepiness is a known risk factor in up to 30% of accidents and near misses in the transportation industry in the USA. Examples in industry where sleepiness has been identified as a factor leading to major accidents include the Exon Valdez accident in the marine industry, and the Chernobyl the nuclear explosion in the nuclear power industry.
