ABSTRACT
In one sense at least, corporate cultures and work environments have run on parallel tracks for much of this century. But the alliance between the two, while enduring, has been an unholy one. The industrial and engineering metaphors of so much organizational theory have been mirrored by the functionalist design dogma of Modernist, hard-edged, rectilinear offices.
