ABSTRACT
Implementing the vision of sustainable development implies a need for multidimensional evaluation. The discussion in the present chapter is based on experience from two evaluations of Swedish national funding programmes – the Local Development Agreements and the Local Investment Programmes – and on a study focusing on how urban design and planning are related to changes in ‘exposed suburban metropolitan areas’ in Sweden (Stenberg 2004; Stenberg et al. forthcoming).
