Spatial Interaction and Information: The Pillars of European Networks

An important role will be played by the rapid development of ICT in general, and in relation to transport in particular. And, more specifically, information – as a virtual transportation means – will exert a great impact on the interaction and transportation patterns of people all over the world. Information will not only create a sense of global citizenship, but will also enhance the performance of transportation systems, so that these systems become more transparent and accessible (see also Urry 2003; Limtanakool et al. 2006).
