ABSTRACT
It is well known and obvious that intention, meaning, and intentionality are central notions in our contemporary philosophical surroundings. ey are historically important – in fact it has been claimed that these themes have served as a common starting-point for very di erent lines of development during the twentieth century. But systematically as well, they are extremely important for the current philosophy of mind, and even more generally, for the theory of language and semiotics.
