ABSTRACT
Mental health promotion is an old concept and approach, currently re-invented not
only in the UK, but also globally.
This chapter will attempt to look at how it is defined, especially as distinct
from public health and from other mental health activities, its links to psychosocial
well being, and to the wider concepts of social inclusion, inequality, discrimination
and its prevention, citizenship and social capital.
