ABSTRACT

The opinion that one country has of another depends on many factors. First, this opinion is formed in light of the circumstances that obtain between them; they might be competitors or deadly foes; one country might be suffering under the yoke of another and the opinion will differ accordingly. Under certain circumstances an enemy might turn into an ally and opinion will follow suit. The view of events at the time they actually happen are also very different from the view of those same events after more than four hundred years have passed, and there will also be varied judgments on certain historical figures about whom much has been written, although not always with a strict respect for the truth. Some are loved and hated, many are both popular and unpopular. Such is the case of Elizabeth I and Philip II.
