ABSTRACT
Channels-Stories from the Niagara Frontier is a documentary production program I developed in 2006 while I was executive director of Squeaky Wheel/Buffalo Media Resources, a media arts center located in Buffalo, NY. The explicit goal of Channels is to create awareness about important urban issues which tend to be ignored or underreported by mainstream media.1 As a lmmaker myself, I passionately believe in the power of grassroots documentary media as a way to eect change and empower communities. Channels was born out of that belief.
