ABSTRACT

Britain has the oldest green party in Europe, founded more than 30 years ago. The question of how the party should be organized has been an important issue of debate for most of that time. It could be argued that the key internal divide, between the so-called ‘electoralists’ and ‘anarchists’, centred on the question of how the party should be internally structured. Despite this, there have been few significant changes of party structure over the years: there has been much more continuity than change.
