ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the next change that is about to happen, and that is the Information Revolution. In the near future, information will arrive across the whole spectrum of services and be combined at the point of human interest. The delivery of the information will be easy; the real challenge will be how the people are going to be able to accommodate and assimilate all the information that is readily available. The advent of 3G mobile systems means that there is an equivalent connection in the mobile world as people have become used to in the wired world over the last few years. The addition of modern networking allowing email and file transfers has meant that the home worker can have access to communications and information from the home just as conveniently as being in the office. In the new instant interactive information world, systems must be e-friendly. The human-fronted call centre was the ultimate interface for most people.
