ABSTRACT
In earlier chapters of this book, we have touched upon the very large growth in air transport since the middle of the twentieth century, focusing on how ATC and airlines have managed this change. This chapter will focus on the environmental consequences of such growth, before we explore the evolution of air transport, its infrastructure, and the societal consequences, in following chapters.
