ABSTRACT

This section summarizes the main ndings of our case studies and discusses their theoretical implications.1 What did the three selected directives mean for the four CEE countries studied in terms of required policy adaptations? How did the countries perform with regard to the legal incorporation of the EU policies as well as to the enforcement and application of the transposed legislation in everyday practice? Finally, how can we explain the observed implementation patterns and what does this mean for the wider theoretical debate on the implementation of EU legislation?
