ABSTRACT

In Chapter 10 I described some of the challenges which might face students who are confronted with self-directed study within a blended course. The aim of this chapter is to discuss strategies to keep students ‘on course’ and ways of helping them to develop as competent blended learners. I draw on the literature in this field and have illustrated it with the experiences of contributors to the blended learning survey. This chapter serves as an introduction to the following three chapters, which contain a range of practical ideas and activities for learning development when using online media.
