ABSTRACT

Japan’s household entertainment robot called BN-7 can recognize face shapes and the sounds of people. It is shown in Figure 3. Thus, it can identify who is talking to it, and talk with people through various gestures and voices. It is equipped with a 30-megapixel digital camera, and it can recognise seven person’s faces at most. What’s more, it can remember the lifestyle of each family member. For example, when my father comes home from work, it says “Is today’s work ok?”; when my mother comes back after buying things, it asks: “What is today’s dinner?” BN-7 also has the function of “emotional expression”. When it is happy, its cheeks turn red; when it doesn’t know what to do, its face questions.
