ABSTRACT

The synthesis provided by quadratura, painted perspectives of architecture, between built and represented space is taken by the Baroque spatial framework as a level of the spatial experience. About this architectural genre three types of discourse must be considered: a proselytizing discourse (underlying to the image’s rhetorical potentiality under the logics of counter-reform and royal absolutism); a technical discourse (which calls up contents from optics and perspective science along with the theory and practice of architecture); and a symbolic discourse (referring a latent spatial induction, either by transformation of the built environment as well as the reflection of desires and ambitions materialize through representation).
