Architectures of madness: Lovecraft’s R’lyeh as modernist dystopia

This is due to the setting of one of his most famous short stories (Clute & Grant, 1996:596): «The Call of Cthulhu», a short fiction written in 1926 and published in the magazine Weird Tales in 1928, whose popularity I will not try to address or explain in here.
