ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in this book. The book focuses doctoral student research training and Chinese social science journals that throw some light on the international dimensions of research and graduate education. It addresses some of the key concerns that have been raised in relation to the future directions of internationalization itself. In seeking to present alternative perspectives on the internationalization of higher education, the book explores the horizons of international education research through its focus on new contexts and new topics, but also on new modes for exploring and understanding the field. With the development of professional master's courses in internationalization and international education in many US colleges, if not more widely, people may risk encouraging new practitioners in international education to consider the academic pathways as the only valid route into a professional career in this field.
