ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to provide the relationship between happiness and social adjustment of Indonesian and China students. For Chinese students, happiness is not a variable that correlates with their social adjustment in college, but among Indonesian students there is a significant difference. By way of a general definition, adjustment means mastery, the ability of students to plan and organize their responses in such a way that conflicts, difficulties, and frustrations tend to disappear in the face of efficient and mastering conduct. Some antecedents of students' adjustment such as demographic, family relations, peer evaluation, and cultural norms. Happiness is assumed to be a trait factor that has a correlation with a student's social adjustment in college. In terms of these findings, there was no correlation between happiness and social adjustment among Chinese students, but there was a significant correlation between happiness and social adjustment among Indonesian students.
