ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to find out how students at the Department of Psychology spend their time. It argues that all of the students fall under the category of campus-centered, or traditional, students, whose focus is mainly on academic activities. Time use study is crucial in determining the different aspects of college student’s success, such as academic achievement and duration of study, as well as the development of social and emotional skills. Some students work part-time, sometimes out of necessity, sometimes out of curiousity about the world of work. Students use most of their time for academic purposes, ranging from going to class, studying at the library, studying in groups, and studying alone. The majority of college students in Indonesia depend on their parents for a monthly allowance. Indonesians are fond of saying that cellular phones put greater distance between people who are close by and shorten the distance between people who are geographically far away.
