ABSTRACT
This contribution takes as its starting point the analysis of the natural and artificial networks that have supported the growth of Milan as a node of European relevance and that today constitute the framework for many actions of metropolitan governance. The mapping of these new and renewed tangible and intangible networks within the Milan urban region explain the effective and potential role of nodal places and their mutual connections inside and outside the metropolitan area, with specific focus on the places of location and development of new productions and economic activities.
