ABSTRACT
All forms of money are in the nature of tallies or tokens, that is to say they are generally accepted, not for the utility which they themselves yield, but because it is believed that they will be readily exchangeable into goods and services. The nature and functions of money are best made clear by considering the method of exchange carried on without its help. This method is known as " barter.”
