ABSTRACT
In this chapter the NETLIPSE research is presented as a case study of a successful practical research approach. The research was carried out in 2006-2008, was sponsored by the European Commission (EC) and involved many organisations. The research consisted of a qualitative approach to finding best practices and lessons learnt in the management and organisation of Large Infrastructure Projects (LIPs) (transport) in Europe, the ultimate goal being to gather information that could help improve the PM and organisation of these projects in the future.
