ABSTRACT

Transformation is the key to growth and to the repurposing of an organization. In 2005, Apple Computer Inc. had revenues of $13.9 billion from sales of desktop and laptop computers and the four versions of the iPod music player. Aristotle teaches that change is an alteration of a quantity, the increase or decrease of something in the composition of a thing. Fundamental change – transformation – occurs only when the nature and quality of the thing changes. Qualitative transformation occurs between extremes. Potentiality contains both change and transformation. The change in technology has transformed the behaviour and changed the distinctive competencies required in the performance of the activity. There is a strategic difference between change and transformation. The role innovation can play in helping organizations reach their potential is connected to what we mean by the word innovation. It is viewed that innovation in the emergent present is not connected with technology, but is connected with behaviour.
