ABSTRACT

Constantinople was built by one of the Byzantine kings, and was named after him. The stories about its greatness and glory are countless. The city is engulfed by the sea on two sides, east and north, while the west and south are inland. The thickness of its greater wall is almost 21 cubits in width. It had been mentioned that Constantinople had nearly 100 gates. One of them is the Golden Gate. Today the city is under the Franks, who defeated the Byzantines and seized it.
