Their religious festivals are Hindu, the majority being Vaishnavas, while a Gosáin or Bairágí is the Guru. Before felling a Gujálí or _Sál tree, offerings are made to Chandí, or Durgá, the Bráhman officiating; while (if their word is to be believed) no religious rite is ever celebrated without the guidance of the family priest.
