ABSTRACT

Patricia O’Reilly, PhD, is professor of developmental psychology and education in the Educational Foundations Program in the College of Education at the University of Cincinnati. She is also a Women’s Studies faculty member and teaches a women’s studies course in gender roles and education. She is active in community outreach and, in cooperation with local school districts, has produced a conference for 600 girls between the ages of 14 and 18, built on a program designed by the girls themselves. She has also worked with community agencies in sponsoring conferences for girls in neighborhoods, which are planned by the girls and neighborhood residents.
