ABSTRACT
Throughout the world, nations and private organizations provide a vast and complex array of vocationally related services to adults with physical, mental, behavioral, or emotional disabilities. Many of these services are surprisingly similar in different countries, especially those found in the more industrialized countries of North America, Western Europe, and Japan. Other services remain uniquely associated with a certain country or culture, particularly in some less-developed countries found in Central America, Africa, or Asia. Without question, the types of vocational services offered to adults with disabilities reflect a country’s unique combination of culture, tradition or history, the availability of employment, and degree of industrialization.
