Career Counseling With Dual-Career Heterosexual African American Couples

Career counseling for heterosexual African American dual-career couples may present some interesting challenges for a career counselor. Herr and Cramer (1992) stated that the career counseling process between a client and a counselor helps to “bring about self understanding and… decision-making in the counselee, who has responsibility for his or her own actions.” (p. 538). This description becomes much more complicated when the “counselee” is a dual-career couple.
