On Narrative Reading-Writing Relationships: How Young Writers Construe the Reader’s Need for Inferences

Over the past 25 years, research on text comprehension and production has evolved along separate paths and theoretical perspectives. However, there recently have been attempts to integrate the processes of comprehension and writing. This chapter addresses the links between the reading and writing of narratives in children.
