Many academics can empathize with Delbecq, especially in terms of his statement “accidents of circumstance rather than a conscious strategy” (p. 55) bring attention to the results of our research. This is not so surprising inasmuch as academics get rewarded for researching interesting phenomena and publishing in the professional press, and not particularly in developing products for sale.
