ABSTRACT
In my introductory Prologue, I have made a preliminary assessment of the role of educational institutions in our current crisis. Let me draw the reader’s attention to Thomas Berry’s criteria for assessing educational institutions: “All human institutions, programs, and activities must now be judged primarily by the extent to which they inhibit, ignore or foster a mutually enhancing humanearth relationship” (personal communication, 23 February 1990).
