ABSTRACT

KEY POINTS ■ Plasma triglyceride levels are the results of an interaction between genetic and environmental

factors. Among known genetic factors are apoE, lipoprotein lipase, apoCIII, and apoAV gene polymorphisms. The environmental factors are drugs (retinoids, antiproteases, corticoids, antihypertensive agents...) and alcohol consumption, but in a majority of subjects, overweight which induces the metabolic syndrome.
