ABSTRACT

Excluding traumatic lesions and carotid-cavernous fistulas, three basic categories of dural arteriovenous (AV) shunts can be discriminated: the pediatric dural sinus malformation with AV shunting, the infantile high-flow dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF), and the adult-type DAVF. Since the dural lesions in the pediatric age group are beyond the scope of this chapter, the focus will be on the adult-type DAVF.
