L., grain were first recognized as a major problem in the southeastern United States during the 1970s.
Aflatoxin
contamination reached high levels in 1977. A field survey conducted in Georgia indicated that aflatoxin levels exceeded 20 ng/g in 90% of the samples evaluated.
