ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to present a framework for the development of a set of tools to track human health and well-being in a mining region. ** More specifically, it will help identify, link, and guide the collection, organization, and analysis of data concerning the implications of mining activity to human health and well-being using a multi-stakeholder perspective. The chapter is divided into two main sections: In the first, existing frameworks are discussed that assess links between economic activity and human well-being, and in the second, the proposed framework is presented with illustrations from the case study in a mining region in Goa, India.
