ABSTRACT

Electromedicine can be defined as the study of different types of electrical therapies used for the treatment of various medical ailments. Electromedicine has been practiced for hundreds of years, according to the historical data available. In the early years after the death of Christ, a growing interest in the use of electricity and magnetism was observed. This practice of electricity and magnetism for healing dates back more than 3,000 years (Basford, 2001), when sick people were treated with these methods. During the same time period, it was known that the electrical powers of fish (e.g., electric eels) influenced clinical medicine as a possible cure for ailments like headache and gout (Basford, 2001).
