ABSTRACT

The suprascapular nerve courses through the incisura scapulae (suprascapular notch) bounded by the sharp margins of the scapula and the transverse scapular ligament, and then the nerve courses around the scapular spine, passing through a fibro-osseous tunnel formed by the spinoglenoid ligament and the spine of the scapula. Compression or stretching of the nerve results in the development of suprascapular nerve syndrome, as first described by Andre Thomas in 1936.
