ABSTRACT
A criminal investigator operates within an organizational structure that has its own unique dynamics. The powerful police subculture has long been recognized as possessing both positive and negative characteristics. In this chapter, some of the dynamics relevant to major crime investigations are examined, and a particularly dramatic case example is discussed.
