ABSTRACT

Over the millennia the understanding and application of acupuncture have changed radically. At various times in China, this therapy has been adapted and modified to fit political structures, populist theories, philosophies, and belief systems. Various cultures have exerted their own influences to modify the practice of acupuncture, which is why there is Japanese acupuncture, French acupuncture, and others. In addition, the ongoing creative and experimental adaptations individuals have contributed to the practice of this therapy furthered the momentum of acupuncture’s development. The result is a rich diversity of acupuncture styles and techniques.
