ABSTRACT

The most common phospholipids are glycerophospholipids, earlier called phosphatides.Theyarederivedfromglycerol,wheresn-1andsn-2positionsaresubstituted withacyls,andthesn-3positionisesteriŒedwithphosphoricacids.Thisgroupis calledphosphatidyl.Ifonlysn-1-positionissubstitutedwithanacylandthesn-2 position remains free, a lysophosphatidyl is produced.
