ABSTRACT

For machine-specic QA in relation to volumetric modulated treatment delivery, the following aspects should be included.

First, in all the volumetric treatment techniques, the multileaf collimator leaves move dynamically during the rotation of the linear accelerator gantry, and QA procedures for dynamic MLCs must therefore be part of the machine-specic QA program. e leaf motion may be driven either by the gantry position or by the delivered dose. In installations where the dynamically moving MLCs are used for other treatment deliveries (such as sliding window IMRT), QA procedures for this may be already available. However, one should pay attention to whether the DMLCs are driven the same way for the dierent types of delivery. DMLC tests include sweeping window tests and picket fence pattern tests.
