ABSTRACT

This work focuses on the use of traditional SLMs and SLMs with strip dispersion (Ho, 2003). This section will discuss the basic principles of supported liquid membranes (SLMs) and review a variety of applications that exist for SLMs. Other processes related to SLMs, such as contained SLM (Sirkar, 1996), stagnant sandwich liquid membrane (SSwLM) (Molinari et al., 2005), and ionic liquid SLM (Scovazzo et al., 2002) are important separation processes but detailed discussion of these are out of this chapter’s primary scope.
