There is no single ideal approach to the aortic valve. Several techniques allow gaining access to the aortic valve and each has its own pros and cons. Figure 1 presents a decision tree to access the aortic valve. Listed below is a prioritized overview of the ten most important characteristics for the optimal access route weighted by the author.
