ABSTRACT
This chapter is a revised and expanded version of the one published in 2005;1 it has been revised and updated with new material published over the period 2004 to early 2010. Some of the historical background and other material from the previous edition have been condensed to make room for more recent results. Because of the enormous extent of the literature on taxol, with over 48,000 references in SciFinder as of 2010, a short review such as this cannot include all the relevant work.
